About SproutGuide

SproutGuide (sproutguide.net) is an interactive web app built to help gardeners plan their plots, track every planting, and get season-aware care guidance — without handing over more personal data than the job requires.

What it is

A digital garden planner

SproutGuide is a privacy-first, offline-capable Progressive Web App for planning yards and beds, choosing companion-friendly plant pairings, calculating irrigation needs, and following a USDA-zone-aware planting calendar. It works as an installable app on phone or desktop, and keeps working without a signal once it's loaded.

Why it exists

Built by a gardener, for gardeners

Most garden-planning tools are either spreadsheets or bloated apps that mine your data for ads. SproutGuide was built as a focused, single-purpose tool: map your yard, place your beds, know what to plant this week for your specific hardiness zone, and get a nudge when something needs water or attention — nothing more, nothing less.

How it works

The tools inside

  • A visual, zoomable yard and bed planner for laying out multiple garden beds
  • A companion-planting checker that flags synergistic and antagonistic plant pairings
  • An irrigation calculator that estimates watering needs from bed size and plant mix
  • A USDA-zone planting calendar with weekly sow/transplant/harvest guidance — see the planting guides
  • AI-assisted plant diagnosis from a photo

You can try lightweight versions of some of these — no account needed — on the free tools page.
